Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce that Mrs. Kristy Ruaben has accepted the role of Principal for the division’s Trinity E-Learning School, effective this coming 2022/2023 school year.

Mrs. Ruaben currently holds a Bachelors of Science Degree (University of Lethbridge, 2002), a Bachelors of Education Degree (St. Francis Xavier University, 2005), and her Masters of Education focusing on Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (University of Calgary, 2010).

An educator since 2005, Kristy gained extensive experience while serving Red Deer Catholic School Division and the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) before accepting a position as an elementary teacher at St. Catherine School in Picture Butte in 2013.  She became the Associate Principal of St. Catherine School the following year, in 2014.

“Mrs. Ruaben is a true professional who brings considerable knowledge and experience about online course development and implementation to the position,” notes Superintendent Ken Sampson. “Coupled with her clear desire to ensure that her students succeed, I know that she is the right choice to lead Trinity E-Learning School into this next school year.”

Ruaben explains that, while this move is bittersweet and she will certainly miss her incredible family at St. Catherine, also feels called to this new leadership role. “Relationships are so important in any school, but become even more  imperative in an alternative education environment.   I’m looking forward to building those connections with staff, students, and families. I feel so blessed that I have the opportunity to help develop a strong online education program within the school division.”

Kristy is an active participant in her faith and a member of St. Catherine Parish community in Picture Butte, where she helps to lead sacramental preparation.  She and her husband, Chris, are the proud parents of one daughter and one son.
