Trinity Alternate Program

* Although Trinity Alternate is a grade 9 program, grade 8 students may be considered.
Contact the school for more information.

How is the Trinity Alternate Program different than traditional junior high?

  • Trinity Alternate Program allows students to re-engage in their learning and meets them where they are at, building the literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills that students will need for high school.
  • Small, caring and understanding faith-filled school environment where students are accepted, encouraged, and treated with dignity.
  • Less formal and structured than a traditional school. Individual learning plans are developed with student, caregivers, and school.
  • Timetables and schedules are created with student, caregivers, and school, with the flexibility to support each individual’s learning.

Who would be the ideal learner to attend the Trinity Alternate Program?

  • Students who have difficulty attending school due to mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression.
  • Students who have had gaps in attendance through the pandemic and have had a hard time re-engaging in school.
  • Students who have had difficulty socially engaging with peers, or who feel overwhelmed by large numbers of students in traditional classrooms and schools.

What are the expectations/requirements for students attending the Trinity Alternate Program?

  • READY ~ Students need to want to be back at school. It is OK if you have gaps in your education. We will meet you where you are at.
  • COMMITTED ~ Students need to be committed to regular attendance (based on the agreed-upon schedule), committed to learning and committed to being responsible and respectful.
